Overview


This Privacy Policy explains how Solar Provider Group LLC and its North American operating subsidiaries Solar Provider Installations Inc. (United States) and Ontario Solar Provider Inc. (Canada) (collectively, the "Organization," "Solar Provider Group," "we," "us," or "our") collect, use, share, and protect personal information about you when you visit our website at solarprovidergroup.com (the "Site") or otherwise interact with us in connection with our United States or Canadian operations, including by phone, email, or text message.
We are a developer of utility-scale solar projects. We work with landowners to identify, evaluate, and lease land suitable for solar development.


This Policy applies to our United States and Canadian operations. Solar Provider Group also operates in Europe through separate operating entities and separate websites. We respect your privacy and have written this Policy to be as clear as we can about what we do with personal information, what choices you have, and how to reach us.


1. Who is responsible for your personal information


Different entities within the Organization are responsible for personal information depending on where you live or where the activity takes place:

 

If you are in the United States, the responsible "controller" or "business" is Solar Provider Installations Inc., a California corporation with a contact e-mail of privacy@solarprovidergroup.com.

If you are in Canada, the responsible "controller" or "business" is Ontario Solar Provider Inc., an Ontario corporation with a contact e-mail of privacy@solarprovidergroup.com.

2. What information we collect


We collect personal information in three ways: information you give us directly, information we receive from third parties, and information collected automatically when you use the Site.


2.1 Information you give us


When you contact us, complete a form on the Site, speak with one of our representatives, negotiate a lease with us, or sign a lease with us, you may give us information including:

  • Your name and the name of any representative or agent acting for you

  • Your mailing address, the parcel address, the county where the parcel is located, and the utility serving the parcel

  • Your email address and phone number(s)

  • Information about the land, including ownership, acreage, current use, and any encumbrances

  • Information needed to administer a lease, including bank or payment details for lease payments 

  • Tax identification information (e.g., SSN or EIN) if required to process lease payments

  • Any other information you choose to share with us in the course of our communications

 

2.2 Information we receive from third parties


To identify landowners who may be interested in leasing land for solar development, we obtain contact information (including phone numbers and mailing addresses) from publicly available sources and from third-party data providers. These sources include:

  • Public property and tax records maintained by counties and other government bodies

  • Title and parcel data from commercial providers

 

We use this information solely to make initial contact with landowners regarding potential solar leases on their property. We obtain explicit consent before sending text messages, as described in Section 6 below.


2.3 Information collected automatically when you use the Site


When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Log data, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, and the pages you visit on the Site

  • Device data, including a device identifier and device settings

  • Usage data, including the date and time of your visit, the pages and content you view, and how you interact with the Site

  • Approximate location, derived from your IP address

 

We collect this information through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies. See Section 7 for more on cookies.

3. How we use personal information


We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • To respond to inquiries and communications you initiate with us

  • To make initial contact with landowners about potential solar leases on their property

  • To negotiate, administer, and perform lease agreements

  • To schedule and conduct property visits, surveys, and inspections

  • To communicate with you about the status of an active negotiation or executed lease

  • To send transactional and conversational text messages, with your consent (see Section 6)

  • To operate, secure, and improve the Site

  • To comply with our legal, tax, regulatory, and contractual obligations

  • To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims

  • To prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access

 

4. How we share personal information


We share personal information only as described below.


4.1 Within the Organization


We share personal information among Solar Provider Group LLC and its North American operating subsidiaries (Solar Provider Installations Inc. and Ontario Solar Provider Inc.) where needed to evaluate, negotiate, administer, or perform lease agreements, to provide consistent service to landowners, and to operate the business across the United States and Canada.


4.2 With service providers

We share personal information with third-party service providers that help us operate the business, including:

Communications platforms (e.g., CloudTalk for telephony and SMS) 
Customer relationship management (CRM) providers
Cloud hosting and storage providers
Email service providers
Professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, auditors, surveyors, title agents)

We require these service providers to use personal information only on our instructions and to protect it consistent with this Policy.


4.3 With others when legally required or to protect rights


We may share personal information when we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process; to enforce our agreements; to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Organization, our customers, or others; or in connection with a government or law-enforcement request.


4.4 Business transfers


If the Organization is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you (for example, by posting a notice on the Site) of any such transaction and any choices you may have.


4.5 We do not sell your personal information


We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration.


5. Cross-border transfers between the United States and Canada


The Organization operates in both the United States and Canada. Personal information you provide to us may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in either country, depending on which entity is the responsible controller and which service providers we use. United States and Canadian data protection laws differ in some respects from each other; we apply this Policy consistently to your information regardless of where it is processed. 


6. Text messages (SMS)


"Solar Provider Group" is the brand under which the Organization operates. Text messages sent to recipients in the United States in connection with our solar leasing program are sent by Solar Provider Installations Inc. under the Solar Provider Group brand.
If you provide your mobile phone number to us (whether through the Site, by responding to outreach about your land, during a phone conversation with a representative, or in any other communication), we may use that number to send you text messages about your inquiry, our discussions regarding a potential solar lease on your property, the status of an active lease negotiation, or matters relating to a lease you have signed with us.


You consent to receive these text messages when you provide your phone number to us in connection with these communications. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase, lease, or other transaction.

Frequency. Message frequency varies depending on the stage of our discussions with you.


Cost. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.


Opting out. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. We will send a single confirmation message and will not send you further text messages from that number. You can also opt out by contacting a representative on a call, by emailing us at the address listed in Section 11, or by writing to us at the address listed in Section 11.

 

Help. Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us using the information in Section 11.


No sharing of mobile information. We do not share, sell, rent, or release your mobile phone number or text-messaging consent to any third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Information you share with us via text message is treated under this Policy and is only used to communicate with you and to provide the services you have requested.


Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.


7. Cookies and similar technologies


We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, measure how the Site is used, and improve performance.


Strictly necessary cookies are required for the Site to function and cannot be turned off in our systems.


Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it.


You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect Site functionality.


8. How long we keep personal information


We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy, and then for additional periods if required to comply with legal, tax, regulatory, or contractual obligations or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.


9. How we protect personal information


We use reasonable technical, organizational, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that personal information will never be accessed by unauthorized persons.


If we ever experience a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate regulators where required by law.


10. Your rights and choices


Your rights depend on where you live and which laws apply to you. You can exercise any of the rights described below by contacting us using the details in Section 11.


10.1 California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

 

  • If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:

  • Right to know what categories of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we have shared it

  • Right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions

  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information

  • Right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell, and we do not share for cross-context behavioral advertising; see Section 4.5)

  • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that trigger this right)

  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights

10.2 Other US states with comprehensive privacy laws


If you are a resident of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Utah, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Tennessee, Indiana, Delaware, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Kentucky, Minnesota, Maryland, Rhode Island, or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you generally have rights similar to those described for California residents (including rights to know, access, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing), subject to the specific terms of your state's law.


To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 11.


10.3 Canadian residents (PIPEDA, Quebec Law 25, and similar)


If you are a resident of Canada, you have the right to access, correct, and withdraw consent for our use of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions. If you are a resident of Quebec, you have additional rights under Law 25, including the right to data portability and to be informed about decisions made by automated processing that significantly affect you.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, if you are a Quebec resident).

 


10.4 How we handle your request


We will respond to verifiable requests within the time periods required by applicable law (generally 45 days for CCPA and 30 days for PIPEDA). We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we may extend the response time if your request is complex or if we receive a high volume of requests.


We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

12. Children


The Site and our services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in Section 11 and we will take steps to delete it.

13. Changes to this Policy


We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice (for example, by posting a prominent notice on the Site or by emailing you if we have your email address). We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
