Harrison Street Solar

Harrison Street Solar is a proposed 5MW AC community solar farm spanning 25 acres, located just outside the city of Quincy, Illinois.

FAQ's:

Will the proposed Harrison Street Solar Project affect my daily life?

The project is designed to operate quietly and with minimal day-to-day activity once construction is complete. Our team is committed to maintaining open communication with nearby residents and addressing questions or concerns throughout the life of the project.

How will the land be maintained?

Natural vegetation, including native plant species and grasses planted beneath and between the array, as well as a vegetative screening barrier around the system, will be planted to support soil health, reduce erosion, and provide habitat for pollinators and other wildlife. Routine maintenance throughout the life of the project will ensure the site remains safe, clean, and well managed.

What happens when the project reaches the end of its life?

The Harrison Street Project is intended to operate for approximately 35-40 years. At the end of its operating life, all equipment will be removed from the site, and the land will be restored to agricultural standards in accordance with the Agricultural Illinois Mitigation Agreement (AIMA) and the decommissioning plan that is required per the city of Quincy's solar ordinance.

Will the project benefit the local economy?

Yes! This project is expected to create local jobs during construction and ongoing operations, support area businesses, and generate consistent tax revenue that can help fund local services, infrastructure, and community programs. The project has also committed roughly $500k toward utility infrastructure upgrades, which helps to steer those costs away from ratepayers. Donations to local organizations and veteran support is one of SPG's main focuses.

How can community members share feedback?

We believe the best projects are built through collaboration. Residents are encouraged to ask questions, attend community meetings, and share feedback throughout the planning, construction, and operation of the project. Please submit feedback to our email at harrisonstreet@solarprovidergroup.com.
