Vine Farm Solar Park

Vine Farm Solar Park was constructed in 2016 and is one of the UK’s largest solar installations. The solar park features 146,000 panels and generates 46 MW, enough to power 11,000 homes in East Anglia. This project has reduced the emissions footprint of the UK’s electricity system by approximately 21,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually. The project was developed in collaboration with and for the benefit of the Parish of Shingay-Cum-Wendy, and in consultation with the Beds, Cambs and Northampton Wildlife Trust. 

Integration with the surrounding natural area was the top priority in the development of this project. To establish the park, more than 40,000 trees and shrubs were planted, making the project completely hidden from the main road. An avenue of 180 lime trees were planted. Additionally, four bridges were built, 12kms of paths were laid and major habitat improvements were completed.
